13/3, 5 PM:

TALK WITH NICHOLAS MIRZOEFF

“In this presentation, I’m building on work over the past decade to rethink how to activate the visible in the time of the second Nakba (catastrophe), drawing on the “way of seeing” formed in the wake of the 1948 Nakba and decolonization; John Berger’s engagement with Palestine and BDS from 2003; and how to see in and with the “rubble” of the ongoing Second Nakba. In this third segment, I draw on the work of Palestinian artists Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme; the current show “This Is Not An Exhibition” at the Palestinian Museum in Birzeit and photographic practice from within Gaza. Please note: while no depictions of bodily harm will be shown, the implications and meaning of “violence” are central to my discussion.”

The talk will be an online presentation, but will not be streamed. We will be viewing together in the studio.

Everyone is welcome. Please email us at mail@foto-studio.org to reserve a seat and receive more info.

The talk will be in English.

ARTIST TALK WITH INUUTEQ STORCH IN CONVERSATION WITH STINUS DUCH / DISKO BAY

4/5, 5 PM:

ARTIST TALK WITH HANNE LISE THOMSEN

Hanne Lise Thomsen’s public art works are produced in numerous locations in Denmark and around the world over the last 20 years. Drawing on the interventionist urban art that developed internationally during the 1980s, Hanne Lise Thomsen’s work takes inspiration from political protest movements and the experiments artists began making with new media. By inviting many contributors into her projects, working with local residents and professional photographers alike to articulate these hidden stories on the participants’ own terms, Hanne Lise Thomsen uses the photography of others much like a curator or film director, uncovering obscured histories and revealing them to the viewer in all their complexity.

Hanne Lise Thomsen will talk about her works in public space and relation to photography. The talk will be followed by a round table conversation.

Everyone is welcome. Please email us at mail@foto-studio.org to reserve a seat and receive more info.

The talk will be in Danish.

1/12, 5 PM:

KAMPEN FOR UAFHÆNGIGHED: KVINDELIGE KOMMERCIELLE FOTOGRAFER I DANMARK OMKRING ÅR 1990’.
